Course Information:
Fly tipping is a persistent problem and a blight on communities, which affects all areas across our country. Statistics show that there are around 3,000 incidents of fly tipping every single day, costing Local Authorities up to £58million each year. This cost increases when consideration is given to those private landowners who are responsible for paying for the responsible of fly tipped waste on their lands themselves. Over the past two years, the number of fly tips that were a tipper truck load in size or larger has increased by 13%.
This CPD accredited training course has been designed for officers involved in the investigation, enforcement and prosecution of fly tipping and householder duty of care offences. This course looks at the legislation surrounding both fly tipping and householder duty of care, how we can manage the scene of a fly tipping incident effectively and some of the key investigative options available.
The course will be delivered by Sarah Bradley, who has over 15 years’ experience as a criminal investigator across police, local authority and regulatory body offices. Sarah has a vast amount of experience in conducting investigations into waste crime, including organised waste crime. She has achieved multiple prison sentences and Criminal Behaviour Orders for those who have committed offences of fly tipping. Sarah has also provided case studies to DEFRA, the National Fly Tipping Prevention Group and Fly Tipping Action Wales surrounding best practice and tackling and preventing fly tipping.
