Course Information:
Covert tactics can provide intelligence and the evidence needed to assist with the prosecution of offenders. If this evidence is gathered incorrectly this can have severe impacts on the investigation, the officer, and the Local Authority.
We believe that covert tactics are beneficial to some investigations, particularly relating to the investigation of waste crime.
This training course will be delivered by Sarah Bradley who has over 15 years’ experience as a criminal investigator within the police and a local authority. Sarah has a vast amount of experience in conducting criminal investigations and has received multiple commendations from the police for the standard of her investigations and work to tackle organised crime groups. She has regularly and successfully used covert surveillance tactics as part of waste crime investigations, with one such deployment identifying a wide range of offences including the operation of an illegal waste site, modern day slavery and cannabis cultivation.
The course is a half-day introductory course and can be delivered both virtually and in person.
Audience:
This course has been designed as an introduction to RIPA 2000 and IPA 2016 and is suitable for any individual, working within Local Authority, who has responsibility for the writing of applications, the authorising and reviewing deployments, the application of covert cameras to the Magistrates Court, the deployment of covert cameras, the gathering and managing of evidence obtained from covert cameras and prosecuting criminal offences.
